PROFILE OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Chemistry was established in 2016. At present, the department offers only undergraduate course B.Sc. Chemistry. The department provides a pleasant learning atmosphere with spacious and technically updated classrooms. The department enjoys the special status of being the only department that has contact with every student at the undergraduate level. Since, it is affiliated to Periyar University, Salem; it follows the syllabus pattern of the university. It is one of the largest departments in the college.

CHEMISTRY ASSOCIATION (2023-2024)

The inauguration ceremony was begun with an invocation song by the students of III B.Sc.Chemistry. The association secretary Dr. M. PaulJohnpeter, Assistant Professor and Head, welcomed the gathering. Rev.Dr. Secretary and Rev. Dr. Principal felicitated the ceremony insisting on the importance of learning chemistry. Dr. L. Rakesh Sharma, Assistant Professor, introduced the chief guest of the day. He also spoke about some of the features of chemistry association. Then the chief guest was honoured with a shawl by Rev. Dr. Secretary and Rev. Dr. Principal presented a memento to the guest. Then the chief guest Rev. Dr. Sebastin Thangadurai, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, St. Joseph's College, Trichy, delivered an interactive talk on "Carrier Guidance". Students actively participated and benefitted from the talk. The head of the department delivered the key note message of the inauguration. He spoke about the importance of Chemistry association. He also motivated the students to develop the habit of reading and memory tips. Finally the ceremony got over with vote of thanks by Prof. M. Shalini, Assistant Professor.

Department of Chemistry own the overall second place in Science Expo'2024 held at Loyola College, Mettala. PARENT - TEACHERS MEETING II & III YEAR Parent Teachers Meet All the II & III year students came with their parents each and every student met their class-in-charge along with parents. We were provided the statement combined with their semester and CIA marks, mobile usage in classrooms and discipline. Every parent is given individual attention in parent-teachers meet. STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENTS Sports Day Event 1. Department of Chemistry own the overall third place in sports day held at Loyola College, Mettala 2023-2024.
Intercollegiate Events 1. Our chemistry students attended the workshop in Muthayammal College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Rasipuram, Namakkal, Tamilnadu is organizing Hands-on training Chromatographic techniques on 28-02-2024. 2. Our department students participate in national level conference on emerging trends in medicinal chemistry (ETMC-2024) conducted by Muthayammal Memorial College of Arts and Science, Kakkaveri, Rasipuram, Namakkal, Tamilnadu. 3. Our department students participated and won the overall championship trophy in intercollegiate event conducted by NAVARASAM COLLEGE, "FANTACIA 24" – ERODE. National Science Day 28-02-2024 - Chemistry & Science departments celebrates the National Science Day with different activities.
